Pre-Surgical Orthodontics
The orthodontic groundwork that makes orthognathic results stable for life — not just photogenic for a year.
Overview
Surgery moves bone; orthodontics moves teeth. Done in the wrong sequence, results regress within months. Our pre-surgical orthodontic programme decompensates dental compensations, coordinates arch widths and creates a precise final occlusion target the surgeon can deliver in theatre.
Conditions we treat
- Class III with dental compensation
- Class II div 1/2 awaiting BSSO
- Open bite candidates
- Asymmetric arches
- Crowding before maxillary expansion
- Surgery-first protocol prep
Procedures we perform
- Fixed appliance decompensation (12–18 mo)
- TADs / mini-screws for skeletal anchorage
- Surgical archwires & passive hooks
- Surgically-assisted rapid palatal expansion
- Aligner-based pre-surgical phase
- Post-surgical detailing (6–12 mo)
Workflow
- 01
Joint planning visit
Surgeon and orthodontist plan together — you only have one consultation, not two.
- 02
Decompensation phase
We move teeth into their true skeletal position; the bite often looks worse before surgery — that's expected.
- 03
Pre-surgery handover
Surgical wires, hooks and digital splints are placed; we hand you to the surgical team.
- 04
Detailing & retention
Post-op detailing for 6–12 months, then bonded retainers and clear retainers for life.
